Quartz, Diamond Point, Arizona

$20.00

Quartz (var. Doubly Terminated)

Diamond Point area, Payson Mining District, Mazatzal Mtns., Gila Co., AZ, USA

Doubly terminated quartz only occurs in a few places in the world, generally with much fanfare (and special names). This specific occurrence calls the individual crystals “Payson Diamonds”, a reference to the “original” Herkimer Diamonds from Herkimer, New York. Seeing these “diamonds” (they’re not actually diamonds, but quartz) perched on matrix is even rarer. They have a tendency to “pop” off and become single, detached crystals as they weather out of the rock.
